Pumps/Compressors

Pumps are used in virtually every industry worldwide, including petrochemicals, papermaking, irrigation, and food processing. Compressors are widely used in factory equipment, as gas sources in buildings and civil engineering, and in various applications such as air conditioning, refrigerators, and cold storage in homes and businesses. Therefore, pumps and compressors are indispensable devices in all industries.

To increase the mean time between failures (MTBF) of pumps and compressors, high demands are placed on the lifespan of their bearings. Unplanned downtime during production can lead to huge costs and low productivity. At the same time, pump and compressor manufacturers are developing smaller, newer products, requiring more sophisticated bearing designs.

Bearings used in pumps, depending on the type of pump, can operate under axial, radial, and combined loads, as well as at low speeds, high speeds, and under different lubrication conditions. In any case, harsh operating environments and the demanding MTBF requirements pose a significant challenge to bearings.

Bearings used in compressors are required to withstand high axial and radial loads. Compressor-specific bearings must ensure the rotor’s positioning under axial and radial loads, as precise rotor positioning directly affects the compressor’s operating efficiency. Therefore, the axial and radial misalignments of the bearings must be as small as possible.

For bearings specifically designed for pumps and compressors, customers require properties such as low heat generation, long lifespan, resistance to various operating conditions, low noise, and low vibration.
